Movember. A Month of Scratchy Kisses for a Good Cause.
Now, let me be clear. I in no way, shape or form enjoy my nearest and dearest participating in the month formerly known as November, but now re-christened "Movember" see www.movember.com.au for details.
But alas, once a year, for one month of the year, my partner Steve puts all traces of vanity aside to raise money for Prostate Cancer research and funding for Beyond Blue (depression related mental illness). This month long festival of facial hair has lead me to the conclusion that facial hair on some men just isn't right.
Lets take a look:
Here we have exhibit (A). A fun shot of the two of us on our way home from a wedding earlier this year (Go Robby Narve and Annie!).You'll notice his lovely tanned skin and blonde hair. Yes, it's true, I think my boy is a 'bit of alright' and why wouldn't I?
Now take a look at exhibit (B), last year's Movember effort. This was about half way through the month and you'll notice a smudge above his top lip. Steve went for the 'Porn Star' look and it really didn't get much better.Maybe it was the humid Vietnamese air (where he was working for a couple of weeks) that made him attempt to emulate "The Cougar" (see www.thecougar.com.au) I don't know.

Exhibit (C) shows the beginning of this year's "Trucker". I am naturally mortified, but alas, have no say. Along with the Mo, he has decided to extend his sideburns too in order to 'authenticate' the look.
Steve has lovely blonde curly hair. For some strange reason his facial growth is a curious mix of sparse blonde and ginger hairs.
So now I have a boyfriend who wouldn't look out of place in a deep south trailer park or on Australia's most wanted. And don't get me started on instances of beard rash and spiky kisses that make your eye water....
BUT... I do want you to know that I am very proud of Steve and his dedication to two very worthy causes. I have even sponsored his 'Mo' (number 18883) to put my money where my mouth is and show my support. Bringing awareness to men's health issues is a noble cause, worthy of a month embarrassing family photos (you should see the photos of a wedding we went to last November) and scratchy kisses. Just don't tell Steve!
